Large shrub or small tree commonly found at low- to mid-elevations that can grow from 10 to 20 feet tall. Can grow in a wide range of habitats, from riparian areas to dry upland sites, though it is most commonly found in areas with moist soils. Good restoration and wildlife species. Has dark red cherries that provide food for many birds and mammals and are also used in jams and jellies.
